Edition: These engravings from "The Works of William Hogarth", published by Baldwin, Cradock and Joy in 1822 with the original plates restored by James Heath, engraver to His Majesty. The Heath edition was the last to print directly from Hogarth's original engraved plates.

These two prints were engraved to illustrate Hogarth’s book ‘Analysis of Beauty’ in which he expounded his theories of beauty and grace , notably the ‘Line Of Beauty ‘ as a serpentine ( S- shaped) curved line that evoked liveliness and grace.
They were sold separately and as illustrations bound in to his book.
